I found the book quite miserable and a missed opportunity to describe the intricacies of sisters in any positive way. For me the 'hinge' of the plot, that being the allegation, came too early and although that is what carried me through the book I did not feel the author had given herself enough time to allow the reader to ingratiate herself with any of the characters let alone like them.

Also, for me, the over use of the word 'craven' was irritating. I finished the book, if only to find out if George was innocent, so I suppose it gripped me in one way. Does that make it a good book?
