Jef verheyen biography of abraham
Abraham's faith was a model for all future generations of Jews. Abraham Avraham was the first Jew , the founder of Judaism, the physical and spiritual ancestor of the Jewish people, and one of the three Patriarchs Avot of Judaism. Abraham also plays a prominent role in Christianity and Islam, which are the other two major Abrahamic religions.
Abrahamic religions trace their origins back to Abraham. Although Adam, the first man, believed in one God, most of his descendants prayed to many gods. Abraham, then, rediscovered monotheism. Abraham was born Abram in the city of Ur in Babylonia and lived with his father, Terah, and his wife, Sarah. Terah was a merchant who sold idols, but Abraham came to believe that there was only one God and smashed all but one of his father's idols.
Eventually, God called upon Abraham to leave Ur and settle in Canaan , which God promises to give to Abraham's descendants. Abraham agreed to the pact, which formed the basis of the covenant, or b'rit, between God and Abraham's descendants. The disagreements end when Lot moves his family and livestock near the city of Sodom Genesis - Abraham, after separating from Lot, moves his family to near Hebron verse King Chedorlaomer of Elam, in the Bible's first series of wars, leads a coalition of three other monarchs in a campaign that seeks to conquer and pillage.
Battling while they travel south down the King's Highway, they end up at the southern end of the Dead Sea where they fight the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah Genesis Chedorlaomer's forces soundly defeat the Sodom-led army, taking Lot and his family as prisoners. Abraham gathers up his male servants, along with several allies, and pursues Chedorlaomer as he travels north.
He soon catches up with him at Dan and defeats him, saving the life of Lot. Upon his return he is greeted by Melchizedek, a physical manifestation of Jesus Christ, to whom he gives a tithe Genesis - God promises Abraham Abram , at age 85, that he will produce a son in his old age. The Eternal also makes a covenant with him and reveals his descendants will be afflicted for many years before being released with great wealth Genesis Abraham agrees to Sarah's proposal of him having a child through her Egyptian servant Hagar Genesis - 4.
Hagar, however, after becoming pregnant, begins to disparage and despise Sarah.

This earns her a harsh response from her mistress that forces her to flee while still pregnant. His named is changed to Abraham while Sarai's is changed to Sarah to reflect the blessings they will receive. Abraham, as a sign of the covenant, circumcises himself, Ishmael now 13 and his entire household Genesis - God, a short time later, decides to visit Abraham in the form of a physical manifestation of Jesus Christ accompanied by two angels Genesis Abraham then negotiates with the Eternal not to destroy Sodom if only ten righteous are found verses 20 - Ten righteous are not found in Sodom, however, and it along with several other sinful cities of the plain is cauterized from the earth through heavenly fire.

The first prototype becomes a multiple. Marcel Stal meets Jef Verheyen and puts him in touch with the Brussels art scene. He is fascinated by South America. Verheyen works on a tribute see exhibition. Travels with his wife and children to Andalusia, where he stays in the fishing village of La Rabita. He produces a series of watercolours and ink drawings in large and small formats.
Preparation of the Farbsinn exhibition in Cologne. Meets Gerhard and Anna Lenz: the beginning of an intimate friendship and a great art collection. There was considerable stress due to uncertainties about participation and funding. He also immersed himself in Chinese monochrome ceramics and the Taoist and Zen Buddhist traditions.
Encouraged by writer friend Ivo Michiels, author of The Book of Alfa , he once again turned to painting. Verheyen was shocked to discover that for the past few years he had been working in the spirit of Klee, without realizing it. The meeting with the Argentinian-Italian artist Lucio Fontana , with whom he struck up a lasting friendship in Milan in , provided a new stimulus for his development.
Fontana, known for his carved canvases, taught him that the idea itself takes precedence over its execution. During this period, Verheyen called himself Le Peintre Flamant sic. Michiels wrote about this period that Verheyen had become a real Milanese. Verheyen was busy philosophizing and discussing with colleagues and making plans for international projects.
But Yves Klein, who had also been asked to participate, thought that Verheyen had stolen ideas from him. Finally, a group exhibition of Group 58 took place in the Hessenhuis, which emphasized mobile rather than monochrome art. Jef Verheyen did not take part. In the meantime, his pamphlet Essentialisme, for which he borrowed the term achromic painting from Manzoni, appeared in the French-language magazine Art Actuelen, and was published in the Dutch-language magazine Het Kahier.
The pamphlet was also distributed in Milan.
